(Junior) Cloud Engineer

The role

As a Cloud Engineer, you will help our customers manage their cloud platforms. Most of our customers have a mix of platform, data and software engineering needs and we take co-ownership over these platforms.

You have a lot of autonomy and get advanced problems to solve, as we are mainly working for and with corporate and enterprise customers. You manage service and support requests, but don’t be fooled, we are not looking for a support engineer. You don’t do 1st line Support or User Support. If you’re not able to solve and issue yourself, you coordinate with your colleagues.

As part of your role, you will work with the entire Pebble team (consisting of platform, data and software engineers) on the continuous improvement of our customer environments.

Soft skills:

• You have good communication skills and are not afraid to call our customers or work with them at our customers’ premises;

• You have strong diagnostics skills (you know which questions to ask) and have a problem solving mindset;

• You can ask for help, but you also enjoy working on tasks that are new to you. You learn on the job;

• Since we do a mix of platform, data and software engineering, it helps if you have an interest in all three fields;

• You’re ambitious and want to keep learning to grow your knowledge and skills.
  

Hard skills:

Disclaimer: we understand that you’ll probably not tick all the boxes below. That’s alright. If you are eager to develop your skills, we support you.

• You have 1-3 years of experience with Azure, for example as a support engineer, cloud or system engineer;

• Having your AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) certification is a big plus.
  If not, we’ll support you getting it;

• You have experience with Azure services such as storage, databases, VM’s, networking (DNS, routing, IP-filtering, Vnet, NSG);

• Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) is a huge plus;

• You have experience in deploying with CI/CD pipelines and have hands-on experience in Azure DevOps. You have experience with Infra-as-Code (Terraform and/or Bicep);

• You can code basic scripts in Powershell and/or Python;

• You’re able to deploy new workloads and roll out through DevOps pipelines;

• You can rotate/renew SSL certificates and secrets;

• You know your way around Entra ID, RBAC and federation with various SaaS and identity/IAM platforms;

• You’re conscious about modern architecture (Well Architected Framework), network topology (HubSpoke) and security (zero trust).
